Translator 2180

Virgil Ortiz is redefining the sophistication of multi-media artworks with a new clay and glass works series. Ortiz is known for his innovative clay figures and inspirational themes from the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. In 2015, Ortiz was invited for a residency at the Corning Museum of Glass and created a series of large glass vessels. This innovative approach brings together two materials both derived from sand, yet resulting in dramatically different art objects. The clay finials represent the main characters who play significant roles in his Revolt storyline.
