Sika, Than (Sun) , ed. 2/7 (2024)
Revolt 1680/2180 Series

Within Virgil Ortiz’s sweeping Revolt 1680/2180 cosmology, Sika, Than ( Sun) emerges as a guardian species forged from uprising and futurity. Rooted in the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 and projected five centuries forward, the work propels resistance beyond history into a speculative horizon where identity and survival endure across time.

In Ortiz’s evolving narrative, the Sirens assign each Pueblo child a Sika—hybrid tetrapods engineered to safeguard clay, language, land, and lineage from forces of erasure. Rooted in tradition yet interstellar in form, Sika fuses ancestral memory with cosmic futurism.

To encounter Sika is to cross a threshold: revolt becomes momentum, vigilance becomes destiny. It stands as a commanding presence within the unfolding arc of Revolt 1680/2180.
